An article in the February 2007 issue of America’s First Freedom cites information from a 10 year study by Dr. Jeanine Baker and Samara McPhedran which sheds light on the abysmal failure of John Howard’s National Firearms Agreement. The finding were published in the British Journal of Criminology.
Following the 1996 mass murder of Port Arthur Australia, John Howard pushed through some of the most stringent gun control laws in the world. The net effect of “removing” firearms from Australia (other than the $500,000,000 price tag)?
“Homicide patterns (firearm and non-firearm) were not influenced by the NFA, the conclusion being that the gun buy-back and restrictive legislative changes had no influence on firearm homicide in Australia.”
