NRA member and county commissioner Greg “Lumpy” Lambert is known for his pro-gun stance, but that was apparently news to an alleged robber. Police say the suspect approached Lambert, who was wearing his “Friends of NRA” cap, and feigned interest in a car at Lambert’s car dealership. Lambert went inside to retrieve the paperwork. When he returned, the man pulled a handgun from his jacket. Lambert countered by producing his .380 pistol. “I told him to drop his weapon, and he said he didn’t want any trouble,” said Lambert. The robber laid down his gun and fled, but left behind his driver’s license which police used to locate and charge him. Chillingly, police linked the suspect to a murder committed 10 hours before Lambert disarmed him.

According to an article in the February 2007 issue of American Hunter, PETA and the HSUS are allowed to provide educational materials to schools in California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Washington and Wisconsin.

This Is Actually What They Think
A “Humane-Education” lesson plan for teachers tries to humanize animals with these tips:

1. During nice weather take younger children on a walk to view birds, squirrels, and rabbits. Point out how the animals are enjoying the day just like the children. Would the animals want someone to hurt them?
2. Never refer to an animal as “it.” Always use “she” or “he.”
3. Teach children that all animals have feelings just as people do. Get children thinking about how animals might feel in different situations.

There are many reasons why I hate Illinois. There are many other reasons why I find myself trapped in this most awful of the lower 48. Still, here I am, and here I will stay for the foreseeable future. Just to feel a little better I will list some of the reasons why I hate Illinois.

• FOID cards. Most states in the Union have no concept of a Firearm Owners Identification Card.
• Revocation of FOID cards to EVERYONE that is admitted (including voluntary admission) to the hospital for ANY mental health issue. There is currently a back log of these cases because when soldiers come back from Iraq with post traumatic stress syndrome, and find themselves in the hospital…that’s right folks, Illinois revokes their right to own a firearm!
• Chicago: It doesn’t matter that much of the state is conservative because the huge pull of liberals in Chicago outnumbers those on the right.
• No Concealed Carry: Illinois is one of only three (perhaps four) states that has absolutely no provision for citizens to obtain a CCW permit. Those of us that live in Illinoguns are therefore summarily refused the largest portion of our Second Amendment Rights.
• Illinois is one of several states that allow PETA and the HSUS to provide educational materials to its schools!
