Lists: ArrowJ’s Favorite Scripture…

  • The Pentateuch — Also known as The Law, The Torah and The Book of Moses, the Pentateuch consists of the first five books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Every since I took a class on the Pentateuch with Dr. Mangano at Lincoln Christian College and Seminary I’ve been hooked. There is so much packed into those five books you could spend a lifetime just studying them!
  • Deuteronomy 6:4-5 — The beginning of the Jewish Shema, these words are echoed again in Matthew 22:37-39 by the Lord of all creation as The Great Commandment.
  • Micah 6:6-8 — What a great reminder of what God is all about! It is even more powerful when you consider that it is found in the Old Testament.
  • Matthew 28:19-20 — The Great Commission is given to every Christian. I love preaching about these verses.
  • John 8:58 — My favorite verse in the Bible, John 8:58 is so powerful it makes my skin craw. Christ leaves no doubt of His true identity as He claims prior existence to Abraham!
  • 1 Corinthians — This has long been my favorite single book in the Bible. I’m not sure why, but there sure is a lot of great stuff here.
  • 1 Corinthians 8:1-13 — My favorite single chapter in the Bible. I’ve done a lot of study about this chapter, and have learned much about sacrifice, liberty, and humility.
  • Hebrews 11:13-16 — Taken from the “Faith” chapter of Hebrews, this is a constant reminder to me when I find myself in self-condemnation and doubt about my faith in God, and how He feels about it.
  • 1 Peter 3:15 — A constant reminder of our responsibilities as Christians.
  • 2 Timothy 3:16 — The power of Scripture explained.
