An Inconvenient Book…

Letter to Richard M. Sumrall, Library Director, Lincoln Public Library, Lincoln Illinois.

Greetings,

Today as I was walking through the library on my way to 221 Baker Street, something interesting caught my eye on the children’s display shelf. Sitting right between The Rising Star of Rusty Narl , and Digory and the Lost King sat Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth.

I asked the librarian on hand if this was a mistake. She told me that was where “they” put it. I just can’t imagine why that book belongs on that shelf. Perhaps John Lott Jr. should secure a place alongside Al Gore with his More Guns, Less Crime?

I’m hoping this was simply an oversight on the part of the “they” that made the decision to place Al Gore’s masterpiece among children’s literature. I’m certainly not blaming you for the occurrence, but I’m assuming you would agree that the kid’s shelf is not the place for political activism.

Inconveniently Yours,

Aaron Jackson
